Three-Car Crash Causes Route 6N Closure

Three people suffered minor injuries after being involved in a three-car crash on Route 6N in Putnam County.

Members of the Mahopac Falls Fire Department, Police Department, and paramedic were dispatched at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, to a stretch of Route 6N between the Putnam County sand depot and Austin Road, where there was a report of a multi-vehicle crash, said Jack Casey of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department..

The crash forced first responders to close the roadway between Potter Road and Austin Road to allow crews to have full access to the injured parties and the vehicles involved in the crash.

Paramedics at the scene treated three people for minor injuries, and each refused transport to an area hospital. The crash left two of the three cars with extensive front-end damage, and they had to be towed away.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by local police. The cars were subsequently moved away from the scene and Route 6N was reopened shortly thereafter.
